There is always something interesting to me of a french bistro, in term of interior & exterior design and the architecture. That's include Bistro Baron in Plasa Indonesia, Jakarta. Painted blue on the outside, big glass on the wall with curtain hanging crosswise. Two rows of tables and chairs on each side inside the bistro. But am not gonna talk about the design.
Had lunch with my cousin there. What I ordered? Burger. Recommended by my cousin and also I was craving for burger with actual, big patty. Not kind of burger that they sell at fast food restaurant.
And boy, did it come in fulfilling size of a lunch. To make it worse, my cousin ordered truffle fries as appetizer and I "helped" her with that. And had cauliflower soup as my appetizer. So when my burger came, also with fries as side dish,I already had soup and fries. I was sure I'd be extra full when am done with that.
The cauliflower soup. It's savory. Tasty. Appetizing. Delicious. At first spoon, I think it was enough. Enough with the salt to give saltiness, good texture. Made you want more. Surprisingly fulfilling at the end. Not only that, at the end, I was thinking the spice and the salt a bit too strong. Probably the effect after a portion down my throat.
The burger was delicious. Homemade angus beef patty with mesclun, seeded mustard, tomato, onion and raclette chees Patty just like what I wished for, in term of size, the ingredient or the meat and the temperature. I got what I wanted, a real burger.
Truffle fries was also good. Like, c'mon. It's juicy, fragrant and delicious. Because of the truffle oil of course. Compare to my fries side dish that not as fragrant or as tasty as it was. But the side dish was also okay. It just so happen that I had truffle fries before so the side fries didn't appeal me as much. It's logic.
My cousin ordered aglio olio spaghetti with olive oil, garlic, fresh chili, shaving of parmesan and rocket leaves. According to her it's delicious also.
Dessert, we both had churro for share. Sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and came with two dips, Milk choco and dark choco. Personally I don't like it. I think I was overcook. Dark brown on the edges and too crunchy. A bit hard to bite.
