Ciumbuleuit, one area in Bandung that is now offering many hangout places. Back till mid 2013, I wouldn't think to hangout in the area. Neither did my friends. Well, maybe to Punclut but it open at evening till midnight and only sell sundanese, traditional meal. Not exactly what you have it mind when you imagine to have your coffee and lounging with your book or peers. But now, many options with less crowded vibe compare to Dago and Setiabudi and Riau.
What made me come visit this place was the photos of the place that all over socmed and google. It was glass wall, and I always have a thing to this kinda building. I like the idea of natural light comes in, bright and not making you claustrophobic. Just like Burangrang Restaurant at Dusun Bambu.
Went there to meet friends and we ordered pizza and quesadilla to share.
Margherita Pizza, IDR 49.5k+
Chicken and Mushroom Quesadilla served with sour cream, salsa and guacamole
IDR 49.5k+
Lychee Lime, IDR 32.5+
My drink was lychee lime. The sour from both of the fruits were thirst quenching. Not to sour not to sweet and each of the fruit didn't overpowering the other. My friends order iced matcha latte, lychee juice, jasmine dragon pearl hot tea and fruity heaven.
Iced Matcha Latte, IDR 35k+
Lychee juice, IDR 29.5+
Fruity heaven was the only drink on the table with whipped. so I supposed it didn't purely fruits inside. I dint't taste it tho. What I tasted was matcha latte, nothing special about it really and the lychee juice. Instead of mixing juice with ice cubes, they chose to blend it together. So it looked like my lychee lime. The thing that gave it away were the glass size and shape and lemon garnish on lychee lime. Why they didn't use lime garnish? I don't know
Jasmine Dragon Pearl, IDR 20k+
Fruity Heaven, IDR 35k+
Moreover, being sweet tooth that I'm, I ordered salted caramel mousse as dessert. I can tell you it was flavorful. The texture was right and soft enough as mousse. I can taste each flavor from chocolate ganache on top to the salted caramel.
Salted Caramel Mousse, IDR 29.5k+
They too sell adorable, sweet miscellaneous. From homemade cookies, homemade jame, wooden spoon, and pillow/doll. They even have notebook from Kikki K.
Speaking of design and how the place decorated I can say that it's interesting. The separated building: old house dining, glass house dining, and kitchen. When you come, the first thing you see would be the old colonial house. Though I'm sure many come here after seeing the glass house pictures online and on socmed and expect nothing else. I know I did.
Different vibe provided at both of the dining area. Glass house id more airy, open and modern look while the colonial house is more homey and family like. Some home-family related quotes hang on the wall of colonial house. Whilst on kitchen area, not only using open kitchen concept, some food related quote decorated the glass wall.
One thing that I like is the idea of family place and kids friendly restaurant. Not only they provide with small playhouse and slides, but also seesaw, rabbit hole, swings, and horse spring ride. They also put name tag to trees so kids and other visitors in general able to recognize what tree it was. One complete, kids friendly restaurant, in terms of design and accommodation. Made me thing to bring my nephew and nieces here.
