Soleluna, from tapas to churro in Bandung

What pops in your mind when you hear "Spain"? Some say soccer club, some say the men and women. While me, apart from the cities I want to visit someday, is the food.

Churros and spanish chocolate are two of many sweet things I like to have as dessert. Please, am a sweet tooth person. I think I have at least one ice cream every week. LOL.

Luckily, there's a spanish restaurant here at Bandung. Soleluna, located on Sumatra st. Probably one out of two spanish restaurants here at Bandung. I'll update myself on that later.

I didn't took any outdoor seating area and first floor seating area, But I can tell you a bit. The outdoor is all about high chairs and round table. Reminding me to bar where you can drink beers with your buddies. They actually have beer promo so it's perfect. First floor was common seating area. You know, four chairs around a table. And I chose second floor. I't all colorful couches. Comfortable. Especially for relaxing after big meal. Don't blame me if you feel sleepy. LOL

Let's talk about the food. Ordered three courses. Snack, main and dessert.

Chili Con Carne (47,5k)
Mexican tortilla served with mexican style ground beef and red bean.

Probably calling taco as a snack is kinda odd. I mean, it's quite heavy and fulfilling. Taco originally is a Mexican dish, as you all may have known it. But, they have it here. A bit odd. But the word "taco" itself derived from mexican spanish. Enough with etymology, I had Chili Con Carne. Spanish name, but we're going Texas, baby.

I like the ground beef. Not only ground beff and read bean, they served it also with guacamole. Talking bout being creative in culinary and putting everything in. But personally I don't mind. I don't know if it was wrong, but it gave extra flavor to the taco. And the ground beef, it can go with many things. I scoop it with tortilla chips and ate it by itself too.

Main dish, Paella. Paella Mexicana to be exact. IDK why I chose two so-called mexican or has word "mexican" to it. Can I blame it to the person that went there with me? He certainly wanted some ground beef. ;p

Paella Mexicana (100k)
Spicy spanish rice topped with mexican style ground beef and read been

The topping pretty much the same with taco. with extra veggies, mushroom. The waiter asked if we wanted it "wet" or "dry". Wet contain quite among of gravy or sauce to the rice. While dry is the opposite. Had the smallest pan, 30cm in diameter. But boy, still that was big. Suitable for three to four people. Maybe the fact that I had taco earlier than I cannot eat much of it. But it was good. The wet rice was good.

Oh, Let's not forget the drink.

Marquisa De Catalonia (25k)
Mix of passion fruit, marquisa, orange juice and soda

Not a regular soda drinker, but mostly their "mezla especial" or their special mix using soda. Refreshing and good. And sweet. Guess what, I finished my drink. ;P

Sweet Cordoba (25k)
Mix of passion fruit, strawberry and soda.

Another item from their mezla especial. Not as sweet as Marquisa De Catalonia. There was hint of sour.

Then, dessert.

Churros (20k)
Spanish fried pastry served with melted chocolate

Churros. Let's talk about that. Personally, I wasn't happy with it. I was so excited to have churros for dessert but what came to the table disappointed me. It didn't look like churros I ever had. my first encounter with churros was great. I still remember it and I'd love to go to that place again. Too bad it's at Perth, Australia. So, no can do. Start with the shape and form that to me look more like cakue, (even my churros at Bistro Baron looked a blot better than this), the taste didn't help the look. Taste like fried dough but crunchy and hint of sweet. The milk chocolate dips helped a lil. But not to my disappointment. This is what happen when you let your hope fly high peeps. Yet I missed churros so yes I let it flew high.
