Dutch at Dijan's.

Never tried dutch cuisine before, apart from klappertart, and cookies on Eid al-Fitr. I had my first encounter for the food of Netherland at this restaurant, Dijan's Pannekoeken & Poffertjes. Located on Kemang selatan.

From the out site, the restaurant look like old house from colonise time. Entering the building, you'll find big, round table with typical dutch wooden shoes sitting on it. The vibe, decor and display on the wall add extra feel that you've taken back in time.

So, I ordered Hollandse Biefstuk (Dutch Steak). Tenderloin with sauté potatoes & veggies with jus. What I like the most was the juice. Tasty and savoury. I kept dipping any soaking veggies and potato into the juice. And something the chef sprinkled on top of tomato was also good. see, Am not a tomato fan. Unless you juice them and mix it with other fruit or veggies. But I found myself finish my tomato just because of the sprinkle. It was savoury and salty. Mouthwatering. Should have sake the chef probably to know what it was.

Then come the dessert. From what I heard, they famous for the poffertjes. Duh, look at the sign and the name. I had the traditional poffertjes, met poedersuiker en boter. Powder sugar and butter I guess. Later came to me a beautiful, big plate with freshly cooked poffertjes. The way I like my poffertjes has always been only with powder sugar. Warm, not too sweet.

Overall it was a good experience. With me left wondering what was on top of my tomato, LOL
